I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist. Chartered Psychologists are registered and regulated by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council. Registration may be viewed on the HCPC website. Registration details and the code of practice and ethics to which we adhere may be viewed on the BPS website.
As a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, I have been trained to assess and work with a variety of presenting problems. I have extensive training in multiple therapeutic strategies and work flexibly with client to meet their diverse needs instead of using one therapy. I draw on best practice guidelines and treatments that have been researched to be effective in considering treatment plans with clients.
My clinic is based at The School Master’s House. College Street, Petersfield, Hampshire, GU31 4AG
I would first like to invite you for a 90-minute assessment session with me. The goal of this first session is to identify current symptoms and problems you are experiencing. I would ask questions about current problems, how and when they developed, frequency of the symptoms you are experiencing, past treatment experiences and current coping strategies. If there are co-occurring problems, we will also discuss this. Finally, we will also talk about childhood as they might be related. This would help me develop a joint formulation with you and inform treatment plan. I would give you an orientation to how treatment might look like, frequency of our subsequent meetings and length of treatment. Another goal of the first session is to give you opportunity to ask questions about treatment and figure out how you feel about working with me. There is no obligation to continue after the first session. If you decide to continue with treatment, we will book regular sessions for you.
After the first assessment session, we will meet for an hour (50 minutes face to face, 10 minutes admin). The total number of sessions and frequency will depend on the specific problems you experience. It may vary between short term therapy (12 sessions for specific and/or recent problems) and long-term therapy (for recurring and complex issues)
Fees: £165 (varies for insurance payment) for the first assessment appointment (an hour and a half) then £110 per 60-minute session. If a shorter session is agreed this would be charged on a pro rata basis. This can be paid by cheque, credit card or bank transfer at each session. If private medical insurance or the third-party payer were paying fees the sessions would normally be invoiced directly to them. If additional consultation by telephone or email is required this may be discussed at the session and will be charged at the normal fee rate on a pro rata basis.
Your right to confidentiality is strictly observed in all circumstances except where I believe that there is a significant risk of harm to yourself or others. In this case I will discuss it with you but reserve the right to inform outside agencies, immediate family members (spouse, parent, or adult children), as well as those listed as your emergency contact as appropriate.
Psychologists are required to attend regular supervision sessions in order to maintain the quality of their work. Individual issues are discussed but confidentiality is maintained i.e. clients are not identified and personal information is kept to the minimum necessary for clinical understanding.
